This talk looks at, since the 2020 Pandemic, a new, fifth industrial revolution, Industry 5.0, has emerged that is prioritising caretaking of human development, capability and capacity over technology adaptation, integration or adoption, especially in rollout of AI affordances and initiatives. This presentation shows that the reality is that Industry 5.0 is calling for human and machine intelligence, capabilities and capacities to strategically harmonise with one another to serve the flourishing of future workforces and workplaces while ethically enhancing productivity, performance and profit.
The talk responds to recent calls from the UK government to upskill those entering workforces in Digital Literacy and AI Essentials in concert with increasing calls for securing human skills of Critical Thinking, Creativity as well as Emotional and Social Intelligence. This is critical to ensure human discretion doesn't atrophy or lead to cognitive decline because of abdicating competence, thinking and capacity to AI and other technologies that are being championed for augmentation and automation of tasks in the workplace.
A three-part Industry 5.0 cycle of adaptation, integration and adoption will be introduced to show how Learning is fostered for Transferable Skills that are curated through humanity-centric collaboration skills. This cycle will drive future workforce flourishing and development with assistance from advancing and emerging technologies. The improved productivity and performance will boost business revenues, contributing to enhanced UK society and economy.
