Public Sector Pioneers: Meet the leaders reusing IT equipment to bridge the digital divide

As organisations across sectors show interest in reusing IT equipment to bridge the digital divide and tackle the issue of e-waste in the UK, this talk spotlights the Public Sector Pioneers – across health, education, local, regional and national government bodies – who are tackling these two critical social and environmental issues by donating their disused technology to help fix the digital divide - for good. As well as presenting the research findings from Good Things Foundation’s recent report Public Sector Pioneers, in collaboration with the University of Liverpool, we’ll bring together an expert panel to discuss the issues raised and recommendations. Drawing on nearly 30 interviews with public sector leaders and champions, our research provides insights into enablers and barriers for organisations to support refurbishment and reuse of end-of-business-life tech to services like Good Things' National Device Bank. The question for public sector leaders is increasingly not ‘why’ to do this, but ‘how’.
